We read with interest yesterday an article in The Times highlighting that BT has pledged to double the number of homes that can receive fast broadband. We very much welcome this announcement from BT here at NFEA.

Our membership network for enterprise support professionals, ACT, has recently held a series of roadshows across the country and one of the strong themes that came out of discussions was the speed and indeed the availability of broadband in rural areas is increasingly holding back the development of new businesses in rural areas, many of which are run from entrepreneurs homes rather than dedicated business premises.

In fact, we are planning a future campaign in the autumn on how such limitations or total digital exclusion affects rural businesses so let us know if you have a view on this and we could look to include your comments in our activity.
