It’s the second annual Global Entrepreneurship Week next month, previously known as Enterprise Week (www.gew.org.uk).
The week takes place from the 16 - 22 November, and aims to develop people’s enterprise skills and confidence to create new companies and jobs for the economy.
During the week, thousands of events will take place across the UK encouraging people to be entrepreneurial. Last year, an incredible three million people attended 25,000 events. The NFEA network was one of the largest contributors to the 2008 event, running a huge number of activities up and down the country - and we’ve once again encouraged NFEA members to get involved this year.
The 2009 Global Entrepreneurship Week will do a great deal to raise awareness of enterprise across the country. And while it’s great to shine a spotlight on the sector for one week a year, we shouldn’t forget all the valuable work enterprise support organisations do every day of the year, not just during this week. Enterprise support is what the NFEA network is all about. Outreach, business support, advice, training, mentoring - the sorts of activities that NFEA enterprise support organisations carry out on a day to day basis. In fact, in 2008 alone, our network supported over 100,000 pre starts, nearly 25,000 start ups and 130,000 established businesses - totalling over 250,000 clients across the country.
You can view the NFEA network of over 100 enterprise support organisations from our online interactive map here.
Thanks Hayley for publicising the week and reminding people that they need to register the events at http://www.gew.org.uk so that we can profile them locally, regionally and nationally
