Take a look at this report - http://www.sqw.co.uk/file_download/181. It’s a review by David Kingham of Oxford Innovation and Walter Herriott, until recently of St Johns Innovation Centre, Cambridge. It looks at our ‘Business support in a recession’ paper from earlier in the year, and the Richard Report, commissioned by the Conservatives.
Its recommendations are (and I quote):-
- Enterprise agencies to assist most start-ups
- Innovation centre to provide business incubation services and premises to high-growth potential start-ups
- Business Link to deal with the majority of established businesses
- A range of current and new specialist national programmes, such as UK Trade and Investment, Manufacturing Advisory Service and an Innovation Advisory Service, to deal with those businesses with potential to create the greatest wealth in the future.
And we think the Business Link website has an increasingly important role to play in the delivery of factual information to business from all arms of government.
Great to see enterprise support organisations being recognised for the value they provide.
